The Now Habit: A Strategic Program for Overcoming Procrastination and Enjoying Guilt-Free Play

The Now Habit: A Strategic Program for Overcoming Procrastination and Enjoying Guilt-Free Play Review

It's Sunday night and in less than twelve hours you have a huge presentation due at work. After checking your email, social apps, and then email again your eye flits to the clock. "How did it get to be 1:30 already? I'll never finish!" you think as your fingers type frantically at the keyboard. Procrastination is an easy habit to build, but a very hard one to break. In his book, The Now Habit, Dr. Neil Fiore sets out to give us the tools we need to break the procrastination habit.

The Now Habit originally came out in 1988 and has been a personal development mainstay ever since. Dr. Fiore presents strategies to help you avoid procrastinating, starting with an easy exercise: observe yourself for a week and keep a log on what you avoid doing and why. This is the starting point to figuring out why you procrastinate. Dr. Fiore has a different take on procrastination than most personal motivation authors. He believes the key to changing this habit is in how we talk to ourselves, focusing on changing "I must" statements into "When can I?" or `I choose to." This book also focuses on overcoming fears that lead to procrastination - be they fear of failure or fear of being overwhelmed. Dr. Fiore presents strategies to deal with these fears that are easy to implement and make you feel confident.

In its 2007 revised edition, there are added sections on overcoming technology related procrastination. These are really useful if you find yourself tempted back to Facebook or just one more game of solitaire while you work. Many of us can self-motivate using will power, but it doesn't always last. If you find sheer force of will isn't always enough to get you moving or just want to try a different tack for dealing with procrastination, The Now Habit is a good book to check out.

Strategic Stock Trading: Master Personal Finance Using Wallstreetwindow Stock Investing Strategies With Stock Market Technical Analysis

Strategic Stock Trading: Master Personal Finance Using Wallstreetwindow Stock Investing Strategies With Stock Market Technical Analysis Review

As a Canadian I trade on the Canadian Exchanges only, for tax reasons. I have been following Mike Swanson's principals of strategic trading that he has available free on wallstreetwindow.com for almost 2 yrs. His charts do not show the general Canadian stocks I trade in, but the patterns he displays are common in all stock charts no matter what company I research. This in itself has been a lot of help to me as I consider myself a novice. I read Strategic Stock Trading quickly and found myself recommending this book to my trading friends. When one of them ask me to lend it to him I realized that I would need this continually for reference and reread with a highlighter. I told him to get his own book he'll need it as a reference all the time.
It's hard for me to pinpoint a particular section or chapter as most of them have simple, good, easy to use advice for trade decisions that I need to root into my brain so I do not let emotions take control when I trade.
Having used Mike's advise in my trading strategy made money for me in the past.
Thanks Mike Swanson for this condensed well written book. It's a must have to make money in the market!

Strategic Stock Trading: Master Personal Finance Using Wallstreetwindow Stock Investing Strategies With Stock Market Technical Analysis Overview

Many say few know more about stock trading than Michael Swanson, who ran a top ranked hedge fund for four years and has built up a huge audience of readers on his website WallStreetWindow.com thanks to the accuracy of his market calls and investment acumen, including making over 50% in 2008 in one of the worst years for the stock market ever. His book Strategic Stock Trading demystifies the stock market by explaining what truly makes the stock market and individual stocks move the way they do and shows you how you can take advantage of it. The book explains the principles required for you to become an elite trader in the stock market, including what and when to buy and sell using the Two Fold Formula, how to manage risk, and how to be able to foresee real changes in the overall trend of the market before the crowd does. There are many investment books that describe aspects of technical and fundamental analysis. This one puts them together and shows you have to really use them in a strategic way backed by real life experiences and examples. It also discusses the psychology of investors in the market and how hedge funds and institutional investors now influence the stock market more than ever before and what the individual investor must do in this type of market to succeed.
